Keep customers on your website with product reviews and ratings
When it comes to keeping your customers engaged on your website there are a few essentials; a great ecommerce product page design with detailed and accurate products descriptions is a must, and while it sounds obvious many websites still get this wrong and loose customers as a result. A standards compliant and great looking ecommerce website design again sounds obvious but when you consider that most website visitors make a decision about your website, your company and indeed whether they want to shop on your website within the first 5-10 seconds you absolutely have to engage them with a great design. Poor quality images, bad colour scheme or an unprofessional design will not engage customers at all.
Now the above may all seem pretty obvious and if you have your ecommerce website design developed by a professional website design company then you can be pretty sure these will be covered, but there is still more you can do to keep your customers engaged and one of them is product reviews.
By including product reviews on your ecommerce website you instantly make your site much more "sticky" and engaging adding a much more human and transparent element to your website. Product reviews allow your customers to post personal experiences and comments about your products and indeed their experiences with your company, good or bad, and it's a great way of engaging customers and encouraging users to return to your website. As you build more product reviews on your website it makes it much easier to engage new customers much more easily as they read other customers opinions and experiences with the product they are considering purchasing and sometimes this can be just what the customer needs to make a decision to buy.
What about negative product reviews?
While it may be tempting to hide or disallow negative reviews and it's really down to the website owner to make this decision, you should consider the advantages to allowing unbiased reviews whether they are negative or not. Negative reviews allow you to see possible problems which you may not ordinarily be aware of, problems with products, delivery, maybe even customer service, so even of you receive negative reviews you can probably take something from them to improve your services or product range.
So consider engaging your customers by adding products reviews to your ecommerce website and encourage your customers to help other customers make their purchasing decisions.
