Repeat business is just as important as new business and a loyalty scheme is an effective retention tool

While generating new business is vitally important for any ecommerce business it's just as important to retain as many of your existing customers and generate as much repeat business as possible. A great product at a good price and great customer service goes a long way, but another great way to encourage repeat business is to offer customers incentives to return to your website and purchase again and a great incentive is Loyalty or reward points.

Quite simply, you reward customers with points or credits for every purchase they make on your ecommerce website, usually on a more pounds spent more points earned system, much like your Tesco club card points or Nectar points. Your customers can then use those points to purchase goods or receive discount off future purchases on your website. With good management you can use your reward points system to improve your product up sell opportunities or encourage purchases of alternative products by giving away more points for special item purchases.

While this idea is not new, so many businesses are so caught up in the fierce battle of winning new customers that they fail to realise the importance of retaining existing customers and therefore many do not incorporate incentive schemes. It's important to realise too that when customers are happy they will tell others so it's quite likely that you will gain new customer referrals who in turn may become lifelong customers because of the loyalty scheme incentives on offer and so it goes on.

A customer loyalty scheme is a powerful purchase incentive helping to retain existing customers as well as encouraging new customers. We can implement customer loyalty schemes into our ecommerce website design solutions as well as suggest many other customer retention tools to help grow your small business so speak to us today about what we can do for you.
